This cake would be a fun project to make with the kids, as it doesn't involve using the oven (though supervision of melting the chocolate in the microwave is required).

Please note however, that this recipe is designed to be a very occasional treat only, and that it is high in sugars and fat.

INGREDIENTS
 200 g butter.
 200 g caster sugar.
 5 small eggs.
 250 g plain chocolate.
 2 cups strong coffee.
 2 packets Marie or Rich Tea biscuits.
METHOD
1

Melt the chocolate in the microwave, checking it and stirring it until it melts.

Beat the butter with the caster sugar until light and creamy.

Beat in the melted chocolate and then the eggs, one at a time.

Dip the biscuits into the coffee.

Use a largish dish that isn't too shallow make layers of coffee-moistened biscuits alternating with layers of the chocolate cream.

Refrigerate for at least 24 hours.

Grate some chocolate curls on top.

ALTERNATIVES

If you really want to be decadent, top with some fresh whipped cream, before adding the chocolate curls!
